The Young Designers Market is a feel good place, with fun and funky happening everywhere you look. We’re so pleased that Maree Davidson has joined us from The Collective Markets, bringing her delightful art and eye catching stall with her!
We asked Maree where she draws her inspiration from (‘scuse the pun!), to which she replied:
“I have personally met a lot of the animals I have painted over the years. I interact with them, and get to know their personalities, which I then create into a painting - whether that be a fine art piece, or a quirky character I’ve been commissioned to paint. I also love painting animals in close-up poses, which can have a more contemporary look.”
You’ll love Maree’s original art as much as we do, so why not pop down to Young Designers Market this Sunday to meet the artist! Click “Read More” to find out more about Maree and see more great artwork.Continue Reading >>
It’s sometimes hard to tell if its really winter here in Queensland, especially when you meet bright and bubbly designers who are so passionate about what they do, selling their wares on a beautiful Sunday in the sun! Take Jo for example, she’s been creating the most amazing jewellery with her own two hands for years now, and we’re so lucky to have her as a regular at the Young Designers Market and The Collective Markets too.
We wanted to know why Jo does what she does, and she told us. Now we’re in love with the person and not just her brilliant product!
“Hey Jo, what’s your style?” we asked… “Eclectic, peasant, bohemian with a touch of whimsy” she says. Find out more about Curly Jo Design here at YDM.

The first day of Summer also heralds the last YDM of the year. As the jingle of Christmas bells fill the air, so do the designs displayed at our festive fashionable fair. Whether you are seeking out some surprises for your secret Santa, treasures for under the tree or wonderful wrapping to present the perfect pressie – originality is the optimal option at the origin of merriment.
This is the time of year where connecting with loved ones is essential and a priority is sending cards of cheer-whether far or near.
Tickled Pink Cards offer a beautiful range of meticulously designed and handcrafted papergoods. They have expanded to accessories, vintage fabric bags and baby bloomers and applique singlets. We talk turkey with owner/creator, Natalie Green and get jolly ahead of the YDM on Sunday December 1.
Attention: All show ponies!
With the Melbourne Cup approaching, the Spring Carnival often draw more focus to fashions on the field than the thoroughbreds in full throttle!
To get glamorous, gallop down to the November Young Designers Market for all COLTure – cocktail dresses, shoes, bags, hats and fascinators for every fancy filly!
To lead the race in the sport of kings – princesses perch their crowns with stunning numbers from YDM Milliner, Meredith McMaster. We chomp at the bit with the trader about the race that stops a nation and the designs leading ladies day at the market which kick-starts South Bank on Sunday November 3.
